Focus Dance Company from Taiwan at MUPA

The Focus Dance Company of Taipei National University of the Arts will visit MUPA for exchange lectures and workshops, as well as to present a dance production from October 29 to November 3, 2017.

Mr. Phongsathorn Sutham and Mr. Kittipan Cittep have been invited as guest lecturers to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China, where they will give a lecture, workshop and concert of Thai Classical music from October 9 to 13, 2017.

MUPA Composer Invited to Australia

Dr. Koji Nakano has been invited as a Guest Composer for the Music Festival “Creativity Unlimited 2017: Noise as Sonic Grit and Rhythmic Undulation” at the University of Western Sydney in Australia. During his residency, he will give a series of lectures and workshops from July 30 to August 11, 2017. Also, Hyelim Kim and Claire Edwardes will give the world premiere of his “Spring Breathes VI” for daegeum and marimba on August 10th.

World Premiere in Taiwan

The Little Giant Chamber Chinese Orchestra premiered Dr. Koji Nakano’s new work “Spring Breathes IV” at National Recital Hall in Taiwan on June 8, 2017. The previous guests of MUPA composed all new works for this special concert. 

Guest Appearances in Taiwan

Dr. Koji Nakano was invited to give a lecture on his music in the Department of Composition at Taipei National University of the Arts on June 2, the Department of Chinese Music of National Taiwan University of Arts on June 6,. He also gave composition master classes for the students of the Talented Music Program at Taichung Municipal Cingshuei Senior High School on June 6 & 7, 2017.

 

Guest Artists for the 2017 China-ASEAN Music Week

Dr. Koji Nakano, Mr. Santi Udomsri and Mr. Phongsathorn Sutham were invited to the 2017 China-ASEAN Music Week at Guangxi Arts University in Nanning, China from May 25 to 31, 2017. Mr. Santi Udomsri and Mr. Phongsathorn Sutham gave the world premiere of Dr. Koji Nakano’s new composition “Spring Breathes – Double Concerto” with the Chinese Orchestra of Guangxi Arts University for the closing concert on May 31.  Dr. Koji Nakano was also invited to give a speech for the 2017 China-ASEAN Music Week Submit.
